Scholar Support Programme (SSP)
The Scholar Support programme entered into its third year at Devaswom Board College, Thalayolaparambu. As per the directives from the Office of the New Initiatives in Higher Education, the College Council decided to implement the programme for the following courses- Final year BA/ BSc English (Main), Mathematics (Main), Physics (Main), Chemistry (Main), Politics (Main); Second year BA/BSc English (Common course), Mathematics (Main), Malayalam (Main), Chemistry (Main), Hindi (Main); first year BA/BSc/ BComEnglish (Common course), English (Main), Malayalam (Main), Botany (Main) and Commerce (Main). A College Level monitoring Committee was constituted as per the directive from the DCE office (GO(Rt) No. 3490/2016/H.Edndt Thiruvananthapuram 22.12.2016. The Committee had a meeting on January 19th 2017 and decisions to monitor the activities of both SSP and WWS were taken.
Conduct of the Programme through the semesters: -
The Classes for the I, III & V semesters started by August 2016 and for the semesters II, IV, VI started by December 2016. Books, reprints of study materials were purchased and the library was maintained at the respective departments. Classes were held mainly on Saturdays and at times, even on Sundays. The progress of the students was monitored by the conduct of tests, oral exams. Some resource persons even tried innovative methods like peer study, discussions and showing them animated presentations. The thrust was to cultivate an interest in the minds of the students.A general motivational class was held on 29.03.2017 at the Seminar Hall of the College. The speaker was Mr. Anish Mohan, a Life Skill Trainer who lost his limbs in a train accident. The sessions were very lively and the speaker was effective in communicating to the students.
