History of the Department

The department of physical education started functioning in 1965 with an aim to make the students physically and mentally fit and thereby promoting their participation in intra and extramural. From 1965 onwards, five eminent personalities worked in the department. Prof.sivaraman (1965-1990) was the first amongst them. Then Prof.Saramma Kurian (1971-1975), Prof. Bhaskara Kurup (1983-1984), Prof.G.Vatsa (1975-2004) and Sri Aun Kumar R. (1984-1988) were assigned the duties

successively. Now the department is running under the supervision of Dr.K.P Sajilal.The department provides ample facilities for games like football, volleyball, kho-kho etc. Students used to participate at the university level sports and games. Those who are not able to participate at the university level were given chance to perform their proficiency in the "House Competitions" conducted every year on the "Sports Day".
