of the Department |
The
department has been handling general
English classes right from the inception
of the college in 1965.At the undergraduate
level, the department is profoundly
occupied in teaching students of all
the 8 departments-B.A/B.Sc annual
course and B.Com semester course.
Our students are mostly from rural
areas and we try to equip them to
be competent in the global community. |
There
were 14 members on the faculty before
the delinking of Pre-Degree course.
The former |

department include eminent personalities like
Prof.M.R.T Nair, the first HOD, later Principal
(1979-1982), Prof.P.S Bhaskaran Pillai, HOD, later
Principal (1982-1984), Prof.P.A Appukuttan, HOD,
Prof.Somankutty Panikkar, Prof.C.R.T Nair, HOD,
Prof. P.S Sankaran Nair, HOD, currently Vice-Principal
of Ettumanurappan college, Ettumanur and Dr.H
Sadasivan Pillai, HOD later Principal (2000-2002),
currently Principal of D.B College Kezhoor. |
The
registrar of M.G University Sri. M.R Unni, was
also a member of the Dept: of English. Smt. S.
Devaki Antharjanam the Present Principal of D.B
College, Thalayolaparambu too, hails from English
Department. |
To
meet the need of the hour steps are being taken
for the installation of a language laboratory
in the department exclusively meant for the improvement
of English Language communication with the latest
multimedia facilities. Its learner centred approach aims at bringing out the best in the
students of all disciplines and enhancing the
teaching- learning process. The department has
a collection of more than 800 books in the library.
As
an effective incentive a cash award was instituted
by Prof:Padmakumari in honour of the late Prof:
C.R.T Nair, to the top scorer in Part I English
of B.A/B.Sc examination. |
